Before Max Verstappen and Co. compete in a Dutch Grand Prix next year, BOSS GP will give Netherlands a taste of Formula 1 this weekend in Assen.

This year, the BOSS GP teamed up with the German Touring Car Masters to offer the 100,000 fans an incomparable racing line-up. While Assen is new for the DTM, the 4.5-kilometer TT Circuit is familiar territory for the BOSS GP. The fastest racing series in Europe was part of the GAMMA Racing Day in recent years.

What does the DTM event offer?

It all starts on Thursday in the city centre of Assen with its 68,000 inhabitants: From 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. there will be a show run on the Vaart Zuidzijde, with free admission and demo rides of all racing series of the weekend. BOSS GP with the fastest racing cars in the world and the heroes who drive them can also be seen in action.

From Friday to Sunday there will be full day action on the TT Circuit with a total of six sessions of the BOSS GP. The Big Open Single Seater series makes possible, that formula cars of the highest categories can still be seen at their original purpose: Racing against each other. Also driving are DTM, Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux, Lotus Cup Europe and the Women’s Formula Series W Series. Of course, Assen can’t do without bikes on the traditional motorcycle track either: Moto2 demo laps fill the breaks between the races.

A part of the BOSS GP is located in the pits, the other teams in large tents behind pit lane. Fans can watch the BOSS GP teams at work closely, as admission to the paddock is included in all ticket categories. In addition, the pit lane will be opened twice a weekend for fans during the pit walk. Motorsport fans can’t get closer to Formula 1 anywhere else.

Bevor Max Verstappen & Co. nächstes Jahr in den Niederlanden wieder einen Grand Prix bestreiten, gibt’s mit der BOSS GP in Assen bereits jetzt Formel-1-Feeling zu erleben.

Für dieses Jahr spannte sich die BOSS GP mit dem Deutschen Tourenwagen Masters zusammen, um den rund 100.000 Fans ein unvergleichliches Rennsport-Programm zu bieten. Während Assen für die DTM Neuland bedeutet, ist der 4,5 Kilometer lange TT Circuit für die schnellste Rennserie Europas gewohntes Territorium.

Was wird in Assen geboten?

Los geht’s bereits am Donnerstag in der Innenstadt der 68.000-Einwohner-Stadt Assen: Von 17 bis 19 Uhr gibt’s auf der Vaart Zuidzijde einen Showrun, bei freiem Eintritt und mit Demofahrten aller Rennserien des Wochenendes. Live zu sehen ist auch die BOSS GP mit den schnellsten Rennautos der Welt und den Helden, die sie bewegen.

Von Freitag bis Sonntag gibt’s dann ganztags Action auf dem TT Circuit mit insgesamt sechs Sessions der BOSS GP. Mit der BOSS GP sind Formelautos der höchsten Kategorien noch bei ihrem ursprünglichen Zweck zu sehen: Rennen fahren. Außerdem fahren DTM, Porsche Carrera Cup Benelux, Lotus Cup Europe und die Frauen-Formelserie W Series. Ganz ohne Bikes geht’s auf der traditionellen Motorradbahn natürlich auch an einem Vierrad-Wochenende nicht: Moto2-Demorunden füllen die Pausen zwischen den Rennen.

Fans können die BOSS GP-Teams bei ihrer Arbeit hautnah beobachten, denn der Eintritt ins Fahrerlager ist in allen Ticket-Varianten inklusive. Zudem wird zweimal am Wochenende die Boxengasse für die Fans zum Pitwalk geöffnet. Näher dran an die Formel 1 kommen Motorsport-Fans sonst nirgends.

Report: Rennen 2 Monza

Marco Ghiotto gewinnt erneut in der FORMULA und Ingo Gerstl schlägt in der OPEN zurück.

Es war der Konter des Rekord-Champions: Nachdem gestern Phil Stratford (USA, Penn Elcom) zum zweiten Mal in diesem Jahr Ingo Gerstl (AUT, Top Speed) schlagen konnte, war heute für Stratford nichts zu holen. Ingo Gerstl holte mit einer dominanten Vorstellung in seinem Toro Rosso STR1 seinen vierten Saisonsieg und baut damit die Gesamtführung wieder aus.

Phil Stratford versuchte Gerstl zwar zu folgen, doch der Sieger von gestern blieb in Runde 9 plötzlich stehen. Ein technischer Defekt am Benetton B197 zwang Stratford zwischen den zwei Lesmo-Kurven zum Halt.

In der FORMULA-Klasse wiederholte Marco Ghiotto (ITA, Scuderia Palladio) seinen Sieg von gestern. Nur eine Safety-Car-Phase kurz vor dem Ende brachte ihn ins Schwitzen, ansonsten hatte der Onkel von Formel-2-Fahrer Luca Ghiotto alles im Griff. Ghiotto ist nach seinem Doppelsieg an diesem Rennwochenende erstmals Tabellenführer in der BOSS GP FORMULA Kategorie.

Marco Ghiotto: „Heute war es leicht. Bei der Abstimmung bin ich auf Nummer sicher gegangen und habe den Heckflügel nicht so flach eingestellt wie gestern. Gleich wieder zu gewinnen ist beim Heimrennen hier in Monza für das Team und mich als Italiener ein sensationelles Erlebnis.“

Sonntags-Podium: v.l. Bracalente, M. Ghiotto, OPEN-Sieger Gerstl, Fiedler

Alessandro Bracalente (ITA, Speed Center) hatte gestern einen Tag zum Vergessen. Ohne Punkte und mit dickem Hals ging er gestern zu Bett. Im heutigen zweiten Rennen gelang ihm mit dem zweiten Klassenrang die Rückkehr aufs Podest. Zu danken hatte er das auch seinem deutschen Team Speed Center, die noch spätnachts an mehrere Autos parallel schraubten. Die Tabellenführung hat Bracalente zwar an Marco Ghiotto verloren, doch mit dem zweiten Platz im heutigen Sonntagsrennen bleibt er für die kommenden Rennen in Schlagdistanz.

Andreas Fiedler (DEU, Fiedler Racing) lieferte wie schon gestern eine Aufholjagd vom Feinsten. Vom letzten Platz gestartet überholte er Runde um Runde einen Konkurrenten nach dem anderen. Nach den Überholvorgängen an Walter Steding (DEU, Inter Europol) und Gianluca Ripoli (ITA, MM International) war er in Runde 4 schon Klassen-Fünfter. In Runde 6 waren dann Philippe Haezebrouck (FRA, Speed Center) und Luca Martucci (ITA, MM International) fällig. Auf Klassenrang 3 angelangt, war der Abstand zu Marco Ghiotto und Bracalente zu groß, um noch einen weiteren Angriff zu starten.

Martucci wurde letztlich Klassen-Vierter, und damit bester der italienischen MM International-Mannschaft. Teamkollege Ripoli fuhr auf Rang 5 ins Ziel, vor Salvatore de de Plano (ITA, Top Speed).

Deutlich schwerer tat sich heute Phillipe Haezebrouck. Nach dem starken vierten Platz gestern, wurde er heute im Rennen zurückgereicht und am Ende Siebenter der FORMULA.

Armando Mangini (ITA, MM International) war lange Zeit ebenfalls weit vorne dabei, bei ihm führte ein technischer Defekt zum vorzeitigen Ausfall.

Report: Race 2 Monza

Marco Ghiotto wins again in FORMULA and Ingo Gerstl strikes back in the OPEN category.

It was the counterattack of the record champion: After Phil Stratford (USA, Penn Elcom) had beaten Ingo Gerstl (AUT, Top Speed) for the second time this year yesterday, Stratford had no chance today. Gerstl took his fourth victory of the season with a dominant performance in his Toro Rosso STR1 and thus extends the overall lead again.

Phil Stratford tried to follow Gerstl, but yesterday’s winner suddenly stopped in lap 9. A technical problem on the Benetton B197 forced Stratford to stop between the two Lesmo corners.

In the FORMULA class Marco Ghiotto (ITA, Scuderia Palladio) repeated his victory of yesterday. Only a safety car shortly before the end made him sweat, otherwise the uncle of Formula 2 driver Luca Ghiotto had everything under control. Ghiotto is now the championship leader in the BOSS GP FORMULA category for the first time after his double victory this race weekend.

Marco Ghiotto: „Today it was easy. For the set-up I played it safe and didn’t adjust the rear wing as flat as yesterday. To win again at the home race here in Monza is a sensational experience for the team and for me as an Italian“.

Sunday’s podium: f.l. Bracalente, M. Ghiotto, OPEN winner Gerstl, Fiedler

Alessandro Bracalente (ITA, Speed Center) had a day to forget yesterday. Without points and very mad he went to bed yesterday. In today’s second race he managed to return to the podium with second place in his class. He also had to thank his German team Speed Center, who screwed several cars at the same time late at night. Although Bracalente has lost the lead in the points standings to Marco Ghiotto, with second place in today’s Sunday race he remains within striking distance for the coming races.

Andreas Fiedler (DEU, Fiedler Racing) showed, as he did yesterday, a race to catch up at its best. Started from last place, he overtook one competitor after the other lap after lap. After overtaking Walter Steding (DEU, Inter Europol) and Gianluca Ripoli (ITA, MM International) he was already fifth in class in lap 4. In lap 6 he overtook Philippe Haezebrouck (FRA, Speed Center) and Luca Martucci (ITA, MM International). Having reached class rank 3, the distance to Marco Ghiotto and Bracalente was too big to start another attack.

Martucci finally finished fourth in his class and was the best of the Italian MM International team. Teammate Ripoli finished 5th, ahead of Salvatore de Plano (ITA, Top Speed).

Phillipe Haezebrouck had a much harder time today. After a strong fourth place yesterday, he was handed back in the race today and finished seventh in FORMULA.

Armando Mangini (ITA, MM International) was also a long time in the lead, a technical defect led to his early retirement.

The next BOSS GP will take place in five weeks. In Assen the Big Open Single Seater will start in the program of the famous and very popular touring cars of DTM. Tickets for the weekend are available from 49 Euro on www.dtm.com/en/tickets/assen-2019

Report: Free Practice Monza

Friday in Monza: Getting used to the high-speed track in the Royal Park.

Speeds beyond 300 kph demand man and machine. It’s good that on Friday there were two 30-minute practice sessions for the BOSS GP drivers.

The fastest man in this high-speed challenge was Ingo Gerstl (AUT, Top Speed). The reigning OPEN champion set his fastest time (1:29.929) in the second free practice session in the afternoon. With similar good conditions tomorrow another big improvement in lap time is possible for Gerstl in his Toro Rosso STR1.

Phil Stratford (USA, Penn Elcom) finished with the second-fastest time of the day in the Benetton B197, by far behind Gerstl but in front of the Formula 2 cars. He will probably be the only driver who can challenge Gerstl this weekend.

Marco Ghiotto (ITA, Scuderia Palladio) was third fastest in both practice sessions. Last year’s winner at Monza is the hottest candidate for FORMULA victory.

Five other Italians managed to set a lap time of 1 minute 39 seconds: Luca Martucci (MM International), Sergio Ghiotto (Scuderia Palladio), Armando Mangini (MM International), Salvatore de Plano (Top Speed), Alessandro Bracalente (Speed Center) will also be playing a big role in tomorrow’s fight for pole position. Andreas Fiedler (DEU, Fiedler Racing) failed close to manage a 1:39 lap. In practice 2 Fiedler was involved in an incident with De Plano, Peter Göllner (SUI, Speed Center) and Martucci, both Fiedler and Martucci had an early end to the session.

Christian Eicke (SUI, Speed Center) set a great time in the first practice session. With a flattened rear wing and therefore little drag, he managed the second fastest time in sectors 1 and 3, beaten only by Ingo Gerstl’s Formula 1. However, Eicke had an accident only a little later at the end of the Ascari variant. But he will be able to participate again in the fight for pole position on Saturday.

16 starters will take part in qualifying tomorrow at 9:45 am. Today’s top 5 start in Q1 (8 minutes), the remaining drivers in Q2 (20 minutes). The fastest driver from the two combined sessions will be the first to start the 25-minute race at 16:00, the fifth in this BOSS GP anniversary season 2019.

Report: Freies Training Monza

Der Freitag in Monza: Eingewöhnen an die Hochgeschwindigkeitsbahn im Königlichen Park.

Geschwindigkeiten jenseits der 300 km/h fordern Mensch und Maschine. Gut, dass es am Freitag zweimal 30 Minuten Training für die BOSS GP gab.

Schnellster Mann bei dieser High Speed Challenge war Ingo Gerstl (AUT, Top Speed). Der amtierende OPEN-Champion setzte im Toro Rosso STR1 seine schnellste Zeit im zweiten Freien Training mit 1:29.929. Bei ähnlich guten Bedingungen ist morgen auf jeden Fall noch ein deutlicher Zeitensprung möglich.

Schon mit Abstand zu Gerstl, aber vor den Formel-2-Autos, platzierte sich Phil Stratford (USA, Penn Elcom) im Benetton B197 mit der zweitschnellsten Zeit des Tages. Er wird wohl der einzige Fahrer sein, der Gerstl im Toro-Rosso-Formel-1 an diesem Wochenende fordern kann.

Marco Ghiotto (ITA, Scuderia Palladio) war in beiden Trainings Drittschnellster. Der Sieger von Monza aus dem letzten Jahr ist damit der heißeste Kandidat für den Sieg in der FORMULA-Wertung.

Fünf weitere Italiener schafften es, eine Rundenzeit von 1:39 hinzulegen: Luca Martucci (MM International), Sergio Ghiotto (Scuderia Palladio), Armando Mangini (MM International), Salvatore de Plano (Top Speed), Alessandro Bracalente (Speed Center) sprechen morgen im Kampf um die Poleposition ebenso ein Wörtchen mit.

Knapp an der 1:40er-Marke scheiterte Andreas Fiedler (DEU, Fiedler Racing). In Training 2 war Fiedler in einen Zwischenfall mit De Plano, Peter Göllner (SUI, Speed Center) und Martucci verwickelt, sowohl für Fiedler als auch Martucci war die Session danach frühzeitig beendet.

Eine Spitzenzeit setzte Christian Eicke (SUI, Speed Center) im ersten Training. Mit flachgestelltem Heckflügel und damit wenig Luftwiderstand gelang ihm in den Sektoren 1 und 3 die jeweils Zweitschnellste Zeit, nur geschlagen vom Formel 1 von Ingo Gerstl. Allerdings verunfallte Eicke nur wenig später ausgangs der Variante Ascari. Im Qualifying morgen kann er aber wieder teilnehmen.

16 Starter werden morgen am Qualifying um 9:45 Uhr teilnehmen. Die Top-5 von heute starten in Q1 (8 Minuten Fahrzeit), die restlichen Fahrer in Q2 (20 Minuten Fahrzeit). Der schnellste Fahrer aus den zwei kombinierten Sessions startet dann um 16:00 Uhr als Erster ins 25-minütige Rennen, dem fünften in dieser BOSS GP-Jubiläumssaison.

Report: Race 2 Spielberg

A dramatic race at the end of the Pirelli Masters 2019. Gerstl and Bracalente as lucky winners.

Ingo Gerstl (AUT, Top Speed) had to start from last place like yesterday. However, this did not stop the Austrian from winning his home race in the Toro Rosso STR1 ten-cylinder beast.

Gerstl continuously pushed forwards and passed the naturally slower Formula 2 cars without much risk. In lap 12, he overtook OPEN rival Phil Stratford (USA, Penn Elcom) in the Benetton for second place, one lap later he passed race one winner Alessandro Bracalente (ITA, Speed Center), who had been in the lead up to then.

Start for race two in the rain

Just before the start it started to rain. All drivers changed to Pirelli Cinturato rain tyres. In the middle of the race the rain shower stopped, and it began to dry up on the racing line. At that time Rookie Bracalente lost his lead, one lap later after Gerstl he had to let pass Stratford too.

Behind Gerstl and Stratford, the fight for victory in the FORMULA class began: Bracalente had to defend against Marco Ghiotto (ITA, Scuderia Palladio) repeatedly. Four racing cars now fought for overall victory – Gerstl, Stratford, Bracalente and Ghiotto. On several occasions Ghiotto tried to get past Bracalente, but it took him the very last lap to make it.

Gerstl crossed the finish line just 0.4 seconds in front of Stratford. Behind them Ghiotto defended the class lead, but only up to 200 metres before the finish. In the last corner he spun on the slippery track and Bracalente slipped through again – this race couldn’t have ended much more dramatically.

Florian Schnitzenbaumer (DEU, Top Speed), who crossed the finish line behind Bracalente and Marco Ghiotto, also finished on the FORMULA podium today. The reigning FORMULA champion and Armando Mangini (ITA, MM International) fought a duel worth seeing, which was finally decided by a mistake of Mangini in turn 1. Schnitzenbaumer did complain about his own aggressiveness, but with today’s performance he can finally take home a trophy after his retirement yesterday.

Sergio Ghiotto (ITA, Scuderia Palladio) finished fifth in class, Philippe Haezebrouck (FRA, Inter Europol) confirmed the performance of the previous day with 6th place in FORMULA. Thomas Jakoubek (AUT, Top Speed) and Christian Eicke (SUI, Speed Center) duelled for 7th place for a long time, with a better end for Jakoubek.

Andreas Fiedler (DEU, Fiedler Racing) experienced a weekend to forget. The double winner from Hockenheim could not even start on the first race day, in the second race he retired after six laps. Race 5 and race 6 of the BOSS GP 2019 will follow in three weeks in the Royal Park of Monza. From June 14th to 16th, the BOSS GP will contest the Competizione BOSS GP on the fastest racetrack on the calendar.

Review of day 1 at the Pirelli Masters in Austria.

The BOSS GP drivers used the practice sessions on Thursday to get familiar with the 4.3-kilometer track and to find the fastest drivers for Q1 tomorrow.

Ingo Gerstl (AUT, Top Speed) secured the best combined time with a 1:11.996 min. The Toro Rosso pilot targeted the BOSS GP record time of 1 minute 10 seconds from last year in the second free practice. A gearbox failure at the very beginning of the session stopped this plan. But tomorrow record champion Gerstl will definitely be at the start again.

The 16 other pilots had no major problems: Phil Stratford (USA, Penn Elcom Racing) set the best time in the second free practice session with 1:17.078, even though the Benetton driver only completed one installation lap in the first practice session.

The fastest FORMULA driver in today’s session was BOSS GP rookie Alessandro Bracalente (ITA, Speed Center). He was followed by Florian Schnitzenbaumer at his comeback. The reigning BOSS GP FORMULA champion will probably start 2019 only on this one race weekend. With the fourth-best total time he can compete tomorrow in Q1. Also qualified for Q1 is Sergio Ghiotto (ITA, Scuderia Palladio).

Brother Marco (ITA, Scuderia Palladio) failed like Hockenheim double winner Andreas Fiedler (DEU, Fiedler Racing) at the cut by a few tenths of a second. But tomorrow in Q2 the two will have more driving time at their disposal to complete a fast lap. Luca Martucci (ITA, MM International) was faster than fellow countryman Salvatore de Plano (ITA, Top Speed) today, and thus confirmed his performances at the Red Bull Ring from last year.

The qualifying for the 17 pilots will take place tomorrow at 10:45 am. Today’s top 5 start in Q1 (8 minutes time), the remaining drivers in Q2 (20 minutes time). The fastest driver from the two combined sessions will be the first to start the race at 3:30 pm.

An Tag 1 beim Pirelli Masters am Red Bull Ring standen zwei Trainings am Programm.

Zum einen dienten die zwei Freien Trainings an diesem Donnerstag zum Eingewöhnen auf die 4,3-Kilometer-lange Rennstrecke und zum anderen zur Einteilung fürs Zeittraining morgen.

Die kombinierte Trainingsbestzeit sicherte sich Ingo Gerstl (AUT, Top Speed) mit der Top-Zeit von 1:11.996 min. Die BOSS-GP-Rekordzeit von 1 Minute 10 Sekunden aus dem Vorjahr visierte der Toro-Rosso-Pilot im zweiten Training an. Ein Getriebedefekt ganz zu Beginn der Einheit stoppte dieses Vorhaben. Morgen ist Rekord-Meister Gerstl aber auf jeden Fall wieder am Start.

Ohne größere Probleme waren dafür die 16 anderen Piloten unterwegs: Phil Stratford (USA, Penn Elcom Racing) setzte die Bestzeit im 2. Freien Training mit 1:17.078, und das obwohl der Benetton-Fahrer im ersten Training nur eine Installationsrunde absolvierte.

Schnellster der FORMULA-Fahrer war am heutigen Trainingstag BOSS GP-Rookie Alessandro Bracalente (ITA, Speed Center). Ihm folgte Florian Schnitzenbaumer beim Comeback. Der amtierende BOSS GP FORMULA-Meister startet 2019 aller Voraussicht nach nur an diesem einen Rennwochenende. Mit der viertbesten Gesamtzeit darf er morgen in Q1 antreten. Ebenfalls in Q1 dabei ist Sergio Ghiotto (ITA, Scuderia Palladio).

Bruder Marco (ITA, Scuderia Palladio) scheiterte wie Hockenheim-Doppelsieger Andreas Fiedler (DEU, Fiedler Racing) um wenige Zehntelsekunden am Cut. Dafür haben die beiden morgen in Q2 mehr Fahrzeit zur Verfügung, eine schnelle Runde hinzulegen. Luca Martucci (ITA, MM International) war heute schneller als Landsmann Salvatore de Plano (ITA, Top Speed), und bestätigte damit seine Leistungen am Red Bull Ring aus dem Vorjahr.

Das Qualifying für die 17 Piloten geht morgen um 10:45 Uhr über die Bühne. Die Top-5 von heute starten in Q1 (8 Minuten Fahrzeit), die restlichen Fahrer in Q2 (20 Minuten Fahrzeit). Der schnellste Fahrer aus den zwei kombinierten Sessions startet dann um 15:30 Uhr als Erster ins Rennen.

Vor den Augen von DTM-Fahrer Timo Glock zeigten die BOSS GP-Stars im zweiten Rennen viel Überhol-Action. Wieder gewinnen Ingo Gerstl (OPEN) und Andreas Fiedler (FORMULA).

Der fliegende Start zum zweiten BOSS GP-Rennen des Jahres ging problemlos über die Bühne. Andreas Fiedler (DEU, Fiedler Racing) war wiederholt derjenige, der in der Anfangsphase die Führung der FORMULA-Klasse übernehmen konnte. Beim fliegenden Start schnappte er sich Salvatore de Plano (ITA, Top Speed) und FORMULA-Polesetter Alessandro Bracalente (ITA, Speed Center).

Bracalente und De Plano konnte nach wenigen Runden wieder aufschließen und setzten Fiedler zunehmend unter Druck. Doch der Sieger des ersten Rennens machte keine Fehler. Nach acht Runden wurde Fiedler abermals als Klassensieger abgewunken. Damit ist der Vizemeister von 2018 auch der erste Tabellenführer der noch jungen Saison in der FORMULA. Rookie Bracalente und De Plano durften mit aufs Podest. Damit durfte De Plano nach der Strafe im ersten Lauf doch noch einen Pokal mit nach Hause nehmen.

Start zum zweiten Rennen: Gerstl im Toro Rosso vor der Schnellsten der FORMULA

Marco Ghiotto (ITA, Scuderia Palladio) konnte in Runde 1 gerade noch einen Dreher verhindern. Zwar verlor er zunächst einige Plätze, in einem beherzten Duell mit Philippe Haezebrouck (FRA, Inter Europol) um Platz 4 behielt er letztendlich die Nase aber vorne.

Die Teamkollegen Armando Mangini und Gianluca Ripoli (beide ITA, MM International) duellierten sich das ganze Rennen über. Das bessere Ende gehörte Teamchef Mangini (Rang 6).

OPEN-Podium: v.l. „Piter“, Ehrengast Mario und Ingo Gerstl

In der OPEN-Klasse siegte Ingo Gerstl (AUT, Top Speed) im V10-Toro-Rosso. „Piter“ (FRA, Ray-Ban) stand abermals neben Gerstl am Podest. Für den Franzosen waren es die ersten Podestplätze seiner BOSS GP-Karriere.
