Es wird heiß: Die Formel 1, Formel 2 und World-Series-Autos der BOSS GP kommen bei bestem Wetter und freiem Eintritt von 14. bis 16. Juni auf die „schnellste Autobahn“ Italiens.

Die Rennläufe 5 und 6 der BOSS GP-Saison 2019 finden kommendes Wochenende am Monza Eni Circuit statt. 5,8 Kilometer lang ist die Traditionsrennstrecke unweit der Metropole Mailand. Mit einer Durchschnittsgeschwindigkeit von rund 240 km/h ist sie die schnellste Bahn im BOSS GP-Rennkalender.

17 Fahrer sind für das erste von zwei Italien-Rennen der BOSS GP in diesem Jahr eingeschrieben. Für sieben von ihnen ist es ein Heimspiel: Das italienische Team MM International kommt mit Marco Martucci, Gianluca Ripoli und Teambesitzer Armando Mangini. Für die Scuderia Palladio fahren der Tabellenzweite der FORMULA, Marco Ghiotto, und Cousin Sergio Ghiotto. Zwei weitere Italiener fahren für nicht-italienische Teams: Salvatore de Plano für Top Speed und FORMULA-Tabellenführer Alessandro Bracalente für Speed Center. Allesamt setzen sie auf Fahrzeuge verschiedener Formel-2-Generationen.

Was wird bei der Competizione BOSS GP geboten?
Neben der Big Open Single Seater sind zehn weitere Rennserien Teil des von Gruppo Peroni organisierten Rennevents. Unter anderem sind das die Prototypen-Klasse der Sports Car Challenge, die GT3 der P9 Challenge, der Markenpokal Renault Clio Cup Italia und einige historische Rennserien wie der Alfa Revival Cup.

Am Gelände der Rennstrecke wird an jenem Wochenende auch ein Verkehrssicherheits-Parcours für Kinder eröffnet. Die Benützung ist für Besucher am Eröffnungswochenende kostenlos.

Wetterprognosen zufolge wird es heiß: Bis zu 33 Grad sollen es werden, mit Niederschlägen ist nicht zu rechnen.

Im Bereich der Boxenstraßenausfahrt sind die Teams der BOSS GP untergebracht. Das sind die Garagen mit den Nummern 46 bis 60. Das BOSS GP-Catering von Sabel Racing und das Hollerweger Pirelli-Reifenservice sind genau dahinter im Fahrerlager platziert. Fans können den Teams und Rennfahrern aus erster Reihe bei der Arbeit zusehen.

Wie bekomme ich Tickets für die Competizione BOSS GP?
Der Eintritt ist an jedem der drei Tage frei, Zugangstickets werden keine benötigt. Die Sitzwahl ist auf allen geöffneten Tribünen frei, auch der Zugang zum Fahrerlager ist nicht beschränkt. Nur das Parken kostet extra.

It’s gonna be hot: The Formula 1, Formula 2 and World Series cars of the BOSS GP will be on Italy’s “fastest motorway” from 14 to 16 June in perfect weather and for free.

Races 5 and 6 of the 2019 BOSS GP season will take place next weekend at the Monza Eni Circuit. The traditional race track is 5.8 kilometres long and not far from the city of Milan. With an average speed of around 240 km/h, it is the fastest track in the BOSS GP racing calendar.

17 drivers are registered for the first of two Italian races of the BOSS GP this year. For seven of them it is a home race: the Italian team MM International comes with Marco Martucci, Gianluca Ripoli and team owner Armando Mangini. The runner-up of the FORMULA, Marco Ghiotto, in the former Charles Leclerc F2 car and cousin Sergio Ghiotto are competing for the Scuderia Palladio. Two more Italians are driving for non-Italian teams: Salvatore de Plano for Top Speed and FORMULA leader Alessandro Bracalente for Speed Center. They all drive cars from different Formula 2 generations.

What does the Competizione BOSS GP offer?
In addition to the Big Open Single Seater, ten other racing series are part of this exciting event organized by Gruppo Peroni. These include the prototype class of the Sports Car Challenge, the GT3 of the P9 Challenge, the Renault Clio Cup Italia one-make cup and some historic racing series such as the Alfa Revival Cup.

On that weekend, a road safety course for children will also be inaugurated on the racetrack grounds. The use is free of charge for visitors on the opening weekend.

According to weather forecasts, it will get hot: up to 33 degrees Celsius, precipitation is not to be expected.

The BOSS GP teams are located in the pit lane exit area. These are the garages with the numbers 46 to 60. The BOSS GP catering from Sabel Racing and the Hollerweger Pirelli tyre service are located right behind them in the paddock. Fans can watch the teams and racers from the front row at work.

How do I get tickets for the Competizione BOSS GP?
Admission is free on each of the three days, access tickets are not required. Seating is free on all open grandstands and access to the paddock is not restricted. Only parking costs extra.

Report: Qualifying Spielberg

Surprise in qualifying at the Red Bull Ring: Stratford and Bracalente in row 1.

Phil Stratford (USA, Penn Elcom Racing) took pole position in both BOSS GP races at the Pirelli Masters 2019, putting a BOSS GP crowd favourite at the front of the field: Stratford’s Benetton B197 is a real eye-catcher. Since last year, the car also has the signature of his ex-pilot Gerhard Berger on it’s painting. For Stratford, the pole position is his first in the BOSS GP. It’s also a conciliatory result, as last year he was unable to compete in the season finale on this circuit due to a gearbox failure.

With a fabulous time of 1:17.332 min Alessandro Bracalente (ITA, Speed Center) fought his way into the front row. This also makes the BOSS GP rookie the fastest pilot in the FORMULA class.

Florian Schnitzenbaumer (DEU, Top Speed) and Marco Ghiotto (ITA, Scuderia Palladio) will start from row 2. Ghiotto was fastest in the second qualifying group. Little by little he improved his times, at the end he set the very good time of 1:19.158. Similarly well managed Armando Mangini (ITA, MM International) his Pirelli P Zero tyres. The experienced Italian also drove his fastest time at the very end of the 20-minute session and starts alongside Andreas Fiedler (DEU, Fiedler Racing). Yesterday Fiedler complained about problems in the first of the two left corners at the Red Bull Ring. But with 5th place in qualifying the championship leader will be able to have a serious say about the victory

Sergio Ghiotto (Scuderia Palladio), Luca Martucci (MM International), Gianluca Ripoli (MM International) complete the Italian package in places 7 to 10.

Salvatore de Plano had to change to the spare car this morning. Instead of his yellow-red GP2 Dallara he drives the rest of the weekend with a black-and-red car. Although he only completed seven laps, de Plano was able to finish in the top 10.

Philippe Haezebrouck finished eleventh, beating Inter Europol team mate Walter Steding by a narrow two-tenths of a second.

Thomas Jakoubek (AUT, Top Speed) is starting the race in 13th place. Ulf Ehninger (DEU, ESBA Racing) in the second 1997-Benetton starts the hunt in 14th place. Ehninger was able to rewind 14 laps without any problems and collected valuable kilometres for him in a Formula 1 racing car he was not used to yet.

The Swiss Speed Center drivers Peter Göllner and Christian Eicke start from 15 and 16.

Ingo Gerstl (AUT, Top Speed) had to move to the second qualifying group after an engine change. With only two laps, OPEN leader Gerstl didn’t set a qualifying time. Gerstl will start from the very last position in the race as it looks.

Race 1 will take place today, Friday: Start is at 15:30. Race 2 follows tomorrow at 15:45 o’clock, before there will be a warm-up at 10.

Das erste BOSS GP-Zeittraining 2019 war in der FORMULA-Klasse an Spannung kaum zu überbieten. Ingo Gerstl im Toro Rosso auf der Poleposition.

Update 13:34 Uhr: Der schnellste FORMULA-Pilot, Alessandro Bracalente, muss im ersten Rennen 10 Plätze weiter hinten starten. Bracalente wurde von der Rennleitung fürs Übersehen eines Flaggensignals bestraft.

Zunächst gingen die fünf besten Piloten der Freitagstrainings im Top-5-Qualifying auf die Bahn. Direkt nach dem Umschalten der Ampel auf grün begann es in der Nordkurve, der Spitzkehre und im Motodrom leicht zu regnen. Ein größerer Regenschauer blieb bei rund zehn Grad Celsius aber aus, so konnten alle Piloten auf den Pirelli P Zero Slickreifen weiterfahren.

Ingo Gerstl (AUT, Top Speed) setzte wenig überraschend die Bestzeit in seinem Toro Rosso von 2007. Mit 1:22.505 min lag er auch aufgrund der schlechteren Wetterbedingungen mehrere Sekunden hinter dem Spitzenwert aus dem vergangenen Jahr.

Auf Rang 2 konnte sich der Italiener Armando Mangini (MM International) festsetzen. Seine Landsleute Marco und Sergio Ghiotto (beide ITA, Scuderia Palladio) kamen im Unterschied zu gestern heute weniger gut zurecht. Beide legten einen Dreher hin, konnten aber weiterfahren. Während sich Marco Ghiotto, Monza-Sieger 2018, schlussendlich mit Platz 8 zufriedengeben musste, blieb für Bruder Sergio mit 1:40.5 min nur der 15. Platz.

In der Anfangsphase von Qualifying 2, für alle weiteren Fahrer, herrschte viel Betrieb. Für Aufregung sorgte zunächst Peter Göllner (SUI, Speed Center), der den 4,6 Kilometer langen Kurs zwei Runden in sehr langsamer Fahrt umrundete. Nach einem Boxenstopp konnte er die Probleme beheben und zumindest noch einige schnellere Runden setzen. Der Schweizer startet von Position 16 ins erste Rennen.

In der ersten Hälfte der knapp 20-minütigen Sitzung waren Salvatore de Plano (ITA, Top Speed) und Andreas Fiedler (DEU, Fiedler Racing) am schnellsten unterwegs. Schnell schoben sie sich vor den schnellsten FORMULA-Fahrer aus dem Top-5-Qualifying, Armando Mangini.

Während De Plano auf ein zweites Ausfahren verzichtete, legte Fiedler ein weiteres Mal nach und rückte De Plano mit 1:30.7 min bis auf fünf Zehntel auf die Pelle. Die letzten Angriffe auf die Bestzeit der FORMULA kamen von Alessandro Bracalente (ITA, Speed Center) und Luca Martucci (ITA, MM International). Bracalente war bereits gestern hervorgestochen, als er im 1. Freien Training Bestzeit fuhr. Mit 1:29.8 min sicherte er sich bei seinem ersten BOSS GP-Auftritt die Klassen-Pole. De Plano und Fiedler gehen aus Reihe 2 ins Rennen, Phil Stratford (USA, Penn Elcom) und Luca Martucci aus Reihe 3, Mangini und Marco Ghiotto aus Reihe 4.

Bester der Inter Europol-Fraktion war Philippe Haezebrouck (FRA). Der Ex-Le-Mans-Fahrer wurde Neunter. Thomas Jakoubek (AUT, Top Speed) knackte kurz vor Schluss die Top-10. Gianluca Ripoli (ITA, MM International) startet von 11, Walter Steding (DEU, Inter Europol) von 12. „Piter“ (FRA, Ray-Ban) fährt als 13. los. Nach einem für ihn zufriedenstellenden Freitag ohne technische Probleme können wir für die Rennen noch einiges erwarten. Mit seinem World Series by Renault fährt er dieses Mal in der OPEN-Klasse.

Rennstart ist heute Samstag um 16:10 Uhr Ortszeit. Das erste von zwei Rennen geht über eine Distanz von 20 Minuten.

Report: Qualifying Hockenheim

The first BOSS GP qualifying session in 2019 was a very exciting one in the FORMULA class. Ingo Gerstl in the Toro Rosso on pole position.

Update 1:34 p.m.: The fastest FORMULA pilot, Alessandro Bracalente, has to start from P12 in first race after a 10-grid-penalty. Bracalente was penalized by the race control for overlooking a flag signal.

At first the five best drivers of the Friday practice sessions went onto the track in the Top 5 Qualifying. Immediately after the traffic light switched to green, it started to rain slightly in the north curve, the hairpin bend and the Motodrom. But there was no bigger rain shower, so all drivers were able to continue on the Pirelli P Zero slick tyres.

Ingo Gerstl (AUT, Top Speed) set a not surprising best time in his Toro Rosso from 2007. With 1:22.505 min he was several seconds behind last year’s record due to the worse weather conditions.

The Italian Armando Mangini (MM International) was able to secure second place. His fellow countrymen Marco and Sergio Ghiotto (both ITA, Scuderia Palladio) did less well today than they did yesterday. Both spun, but were able to resume. While Marco Ghiotto, Monza winner 2018, finally had to be satisfied with 8th place, only 15th place remained for brother Sergio with a time of 1:40.5 min.

In the first half of the 20-minute session Salvatore de Plano (ITA, Top Speed) and Andreas Fiedler (DEU, Fiedler Racing) were fastest. They quickly pushed themselves in front of the fastest FORMULA driver from the Top 5 qualifying, Armando Mangini.

While De Plano decided not to go out for a second time, Fiedler went out for a second try, but stayed behind De Plano. The last attacks on the FORMULA best time came from Alessandro Bracalente (ITA, Speed Center) and Luca Martucci (ITA, MM International). Bracalente had already impressed yesterday when he set the best time in the 1st free practice. With 1:29.8 min he secured the class pole at his first BOSS GP appearance. De Plano and Fiedler will start from row 2, Phil Stratford (USA, Penn Elcom) and Luca Martucci from row 3, Mangini and Marco Ghiotto from row 4.

Best of the Inter Europol team was Philippe Haezebrouck (FRA). The former Le Mans driver finished ninth. Thomas Jakoubek (AUT, Top Speed) cracked the Top 10 shortly before the end. Gianluca Ripoli (ITA, MM International) starts from 11, Walter Steding (DEU, Inter Europol) from 12. ‘Piter’ (FRA, Ray-Ban) starts from 13th. After a Friday once without technical troubles we can still expect a lot for the races. With his World Series by Renault he classified this time in the OPEN class.

The race starts today at 16:10 local time. The first of two races is over a distance of 20 minutes.

Startklar fürs Jubiläum: die BOSS GP 2019

Die 25. Saison der BOSS GP beginnt an diesem Wochenende am Hockenheimring in Deutschland. Mit so viel Fahrzeit wie noch nie und jede Menge PS.

25 Jahre gibt es Europas schnellste Rennserie schon, zehn Jahre davon unter dem Namen BOSS GP. Grund genug, für die Big Open Single Seater 2019 richtig durchzustarten. Schon traditionell beginnt am kommenden Wochenende (26. bis 28. April) die Saison auf der Formel-1-Strecke von Hockenheim nahe Stuttgart.

Zwei Rennen der spektakulären BOSS GP stehen am Programm, in einem Rahmen, der kaum schöner sein könnte: Die Bosch Hockenheim Historic, zu Ehren des in Hockenheim am 7. April 1968 verunglückten schottischen Rennfahrers Jim Clark, lockt jährlich im Frühjahr rund 500 Starter und mehr als 20.000 Fans ins Motodrom. Überall erwarten die Zuschauer offene Türen, denn die Eintrittskarte beinhaltet freien Zugang ins Fahrerlager, zu den Ausstellungen, aufs Boxendach und in die Boxen selbst.

Teilnehmer: BOSS GP
20 Fahrer haben sich fürs Rennwochenende in Hockenheim eingeschrieben. Mit Rekord-Champion Ingo Gerstl (AUT, Toro Rosso STR1), Gerd Thöny (LIE, Jordan EJ13), Phil Stratford (USA, Benetton B197) und Ulf Ehninger (DEU, Benetton B197) sind vier Formel-1-Autos angekündigt.

Dazu kommen 15 Boliden aus der Formel 2, u.a. die Lokalmatadoren Andreas Fiedler (Vize-Meister Klasse FORMULA 2018) und Walter Steding.

Die endgültige Starterliste wird zu einem späteren Zeitpunkt veröffentlicht.

Die Teams und Fahrer der BOSS GP sind mit Ausnahme von Andreas Fiedler (Fahrerlager) in den vorderen Boxen mit den Nummer 3 bis 21 untergebracht.

So nahe kommt man den Rennwagen nur bei der BOSS GP

Zeitplan: BOSS GP beim Bosch Hockenheim Historic
Der 4,5-Kilometer-lange Grand-Prix-Kurs und das Rahmenprogramm wetteifern gewissermaßen um die Zuschauergunst. An jedem der drei Veranstaltungstage geht es ab 9 Uhr los. Neben der BOSS GP sind die FIA Lurani Trophy, die Boliden der CanAm und die Young-Timer-Tourenwagen die Highlights.

Die BOSS GP fährt am Freitag zwei halbstündige Trainings. Am Samstag folgt am Vormittag das Qualifying für die Startaufstellung beider Rennen. Das erste Rennen (20 Minuten) geht am Samstag über die Bühne, das zweite (25 Minuten) am Sonntag zur „Prime Time“ um 14:10 Uhr. Zuvor gibt es am Vormittag noch ein zusätzliches Warm-up für die Fahrer und Fans.

Schon am Donnerstag (25. April) wird den ganzen Tag trainiert.

Ready for the anniversary: the BOSS GP 2019

The 25th season of BOSS GP starts this weekend at the Hockenheimring in Germany. With more track time and more power than ever.

Europe’s fastest racing series has been around for 25 years, ten of them under the label BOSS GP. Reason enough to get the party rolling for the Big Open single Seater 2019. The season traditionally begins on the Formula 1 circuit of Hockenheim near Stuttgart this weekend (26 to 28 April).

Two races of the spectacular BOSS GP are on the schedule, in a setting that could hardly be more wonderful: The Bosch Hockenheim Historic, in honour of Scottish racing driver Jim Clark, who died in an accident in Hockenheim on 7 April 1968, attracts around 500 starters and more than 20,000 fans to the Motodrom every spring. The ticket includes free access to the paddock, the exhibitions, the pit roof and the pits themselves.

20 drivers are registered for the race weekend in Hockenheim. With record champion Ingo Gerstl (AUT, Toro Rosso STR1), Gerd Thöny (LIE, Jordan EJ13), Phil Stratford (USA, Benetton B197) and Ulf Ehninger (DEU, Benetton B197) four Formula 1 cars have been announced.

There will also be 15 Formula 2 cars on the grid, including local heroes Andreas Fiedler (runner-up in the FORMULA class 2018) and Walter Steding.

The definitive starter list will be published later.

You can’t get any closer to the beasts: open doors in BOSS GP

Timetable: BOSS GP at Bosch Hockenheim Historic
The 4.5-kilometre Grand Prix circuit and the supporting events will compete for the favour of the spectators. Each of the three days of the event start at 9 am. Alongside the BOSS GP, the highlights are the FIA Lurani Trophy, the CanAm racing cars and the Young Timer touring cars.

The BOSS GP will have two half hour practice sessions on Friday. On Saturday morning the qualifying for the starting grid of both races will take place. The first race (20 minutes) will be held on Saturday, the second race (25 minutes) on Sunday at prime time at 2:10 pm. Before that there will be an additional warm-up for the drivers and fans in the morning.

Packing an umbrella can be helpful this weekend. In typical April weather with a change of sunshine and rain the drivers must adapt to changing conditions. At temperatures of around 10 to 15 degrees Celsius.

For Friday there’s an offer for 10 euro. A day ticket for Saturday or Sunday costs 30 euro each, 45 euro the weekend. Wheelchair users and children under the age of 14 have free admission – paddock and free choice of seat included.

Die Organisation, Teams und Fahrer der BOSS GP trauern um Formel-1-Rennleiter Charlie Whiting.

Charlie Whiting ist gestern im Alter von 66 Jahren in Melbourne verstorben. Der Brite war fast fünf Jahrzehnte Teil des Grand-Prix-Rennsports. Whiting kannte auch die BOSS GP sehr gut und war mitverantwortlich, den Gastauftritt der Serie beim Deutschland Grand Prix 2018 zu ermöglichen.

Die BOSS GP-Familie spricht hiermit ihr aufrichtiges Beileid und tiefes Mitgefühl mit den Angehörigen aus.
