Five countries, six events and the most exciting formula cars of all time – that’s what you can look forward to in the 2026 Big Open Single Seater Series.

For more than 30 years, the BOSS GP Racing Series has delivered thrilling action to fans and drivers across Europe. The FIA International Series is billed as a gentlemen’s championship, yet it also provides a platform for young and ambitious male and female drivers. The stars are the cars that can usually only be admired in museums. In BOSS GP, however, they are used for their intended purpose: racing

Interested drivers can take part in their own cars; however, many of the teams also offer the option of hiring a car for individual races or the entire season. Eligible cars include large formula cars from the past three decades that are above Formula 3 level – including Formula 1 cars, US IndyCars, Formula 3000 cars and modern Formula 2 cars. There is much anticipation for 2026 as to whether the Italian racing car manufacturer Wolf Racing will bring the former Formula 1 brand back into formula racing. In addition, the British engine manufacturer Gibson has also become involved in the series with improved V8 engines for the World Series cars. This is further proof that the BOSS GP Racing Series is also attractive to the industry.

Classification of cars
Due to rising interest in the Dallara World Series V8 cars, a separate WORLD SERIES classification has been introduced for the 2012 models, including A1 GP and Auto GP as well. GP2 and Formula 2 cars will be classified in the FORMULA class. The OPEN class features cars such as the Wolf GB08 Sonik, as well as Champ Cars, IndyCars, and modified cars from other categories. The SUPER LIGHTS class is reserved for V6 cars and older F3000s. With reduced entry fees, this class offers an opportunity to experience the world of large open-top single-seater cars. The top class remains the F1 cars from manufacturers such as Ferrari, Williams, Lotus, Toro Rosso and Benetton.

Race calendar
For the first time in the series’ history, all races will be held in front of a large live audience. The season kicks off, as is traditional, at the ADAC Hockenheim Historic (8–10 May), where additional test sessions will be held on Thursday. This is followed by the race on the Nürburgring Grand Prix circuit (12–14 June), where historic motorsport comes to life at the ‘Classic’. France is back on the calendar: for the first time since 2010, the series will visit the former Formula 1 circuit at Magny-Cours (3–5 July). Two further races follow in the summer: The Racing Day (31 July to 2 August), with free admission and a spectacular show programme, attracts around 100,000 visitors to the TT Circuit in Assen. At the end of August, BOSS GP returns to the Red Bull Ring Classics (29–30 August) on the Formula 1 circuit in Spielberg. The grand finale takes place in Italy with the inaugural Gran Premio Storico d’Italia (2–4 October). Together with Ferrari’s Corse Clienti, spectators there will experience the full force of Formula 1 power.

Registration is simple: drivers can enter single races; a full-season entry is not required. Entries must be submitted no later than three weeks before the respective race weekend.
