maxresdefaultThe opening race of the BOSS GP weekend in Monza was stopped due to torrential rain

Following a multi-car collision at the first chicane, the Safety-Car collected the grid right in the opening laps. When the pace car was about to return to the pits, a massive downpour forced to race director to halt the event. Since the drivers had completed 75% of the race, full points were allocated.

In the OPEN class polesetter Klaas Zwart could not get away from the grid for the warm-up lap and thus had to start the race from the pits. Consequently, Ingo Gerstl took the lead from the front row and kept it till the race was abandonned.

Minardi driver Frits van Erd came runner-up in his series comeback. „I am so delighted. My goal was the podium and now I really have finished second”, the Dutchman was excited.

Austria’s Peter Milavec completed the podium thanking his “engineers and mechanics for staying up all night to repair a suspension failure.”

Fellow-Austrian Chris Höher showed his talent taking victory in the FORMULA class at his BOSS GP debut. “It’s a pity that we weren’t really able to race. There were some troubles in the first chicane. The conditions were not easy, because it was hard to keep tyre temperatures up.”

Championship leader Christopher Brenier (Easy Formula Team) capitalised on the havoc in the Prima Variante, slipping past several competitors and finishing second.

Zele Racing man Christof von Grünigen came third saying: “It was very unfortunate we could not race really. Because my car was very fast and I would have been able to attack the lead.”
