No problems
Putting his foot on the pedal of his Dallara GP2 from 2005, the Portuguese Carlos Antunes Tavares finished up third overall behind De Boer. “This was our maiden Formula Class season, with a GP2 car that is more complex from a technical point of view than the car we used to drive.

I’m very happy the team of mechanics has been able to adjust the car so quickly. Actually, there was only one problem and that was a flat tire. I really enjoyed the second race at Monza, battling it out to the line for a place in the top rankings. I also have good memories of the race weekend in Zandvoort”, concluded the Portuguese.

More victories
Karl-Heinz Becker and Norbert Gruber collected exactly the same number of points in the BOSS GP Masters, the class for Formula 3, Formula Nippon, Nissan World Series and Formula 1 cars from before 1991. As Becker had most first places on the podium, the German won the title with his Dallara Nissan World Series 2003. “I missed the first race of the season as the engine broke down. We didn’t have a very exciting weekend of racing at Donington but I still managed to earn a few points.

I won two races at Zandvoort and I vividly remember the one in the pouring rain, but Monza was by far the best race weekend. There was a large contingents of Italians with F3000 cars, racing in large packs and after a hard-fought duel I was the winner. And the track at Monza is really nice”, said the German.

The Austrian Gruber, driving a Dallara Renault World Series 2005, had to settle for second place. “Yet it’s been a very successful season for me. This was only my second BOSS GP season. I had never been involved in car racing before, so I can’t complain about several podium places.”

Gruber also labelled Monza as the best race of the year. “I started from the back of the field but managed to rapidly close the gap with the leader and secure a podium place. Monza is a tough but also fine circuit.” Didier Sirgue won the third place in the Masters Class but unfortunately he did not attend the Prize Giving 2011 ceremony.
