Chris Woodhouse: "Very special to be driving among all those Formula 1 cars"

He was a mechanic of the BOSS-driver Colin Stone at the age of 15. Ten years later, Chris Woodhouse is taking part in the Big Open Single Seaters at Donington Park himself. “The atmosphere is just great in this class. Just walk around at the paddock with all the old Formula 1s and you can’t help but enjoy!”

Working on cars and watching races. Chris Woodhouse grew up with it right from his birth. His dad Doug and uncle Roy were both active in the car racing industry as well. Additionally, Chris works as a mechanic at their company, Woodhouse Brothers. That makes it less of a surprise that the 25-year-old Englishman is crazy about hitting the pedal, high speeds and the smell of burnt rubber. When Chris was asked whether he had any other interests besides car racing, the 2006 champion of the British Monoposto 1200F answered: “Ehm, no.”

Small caravan
Whereas BOSS GP-drivers such as Klaas Zwart and Frits van Eerd have two Formula 1-cars and a team of mechanics plus a nice trailer at their availability during racing weekends, Woodhouse has to settle for a little less luxury. “But I don’t really care about that. I have a normal job and don’t have too much cash to burn,” explains the driver who slept on the couch of a small caravan at the paddock of Donington Park. “It’s already fantastic for me to be here and to take part in the races.”
