BOSS GP will visit Donington Park in England on May 7/8 in the second double-header race weekend of the 2011 season. The fast single-seater racing cars will compete at Donington Park, known as ‘The Heart of British Motor Sport’, during the Britcar Donington May Festival.

Situated in the heart of the county of Leicestershire, Donington Park plays host to some of the world’s most exciting race events. The track of Donington Park Circuit, from 1987 also home to the British motorcycle Grand Prix, is situated on the Donington Hall estate and was the most important British racing circuit during the pre-World War II period until it fell into disrepair. Local instruction entrepreneur Tom Wheatcroft bought the circuit in 1971 and in 1973 he opened the Donington Collection Grand Prix Exhibition Museum of racing at the track.

Formula One
After many years of fruitless negotiations, owner Wheatcroft eventually succeeded in persuading Bernie Ecclestone to stage a Formula One race at his circuit. In 1993, the European Grand Prix was held at Donington, and was won by Ayrton Senna. Plans were made to host another Formula One race at Donington in 2010, but in the end the race failed to materialise due to financial issues after fundraising attempts fell through. In December 2009, Silverstone picked up the contract for the next ten years, with an option for a renewal for seven further years.
