Michael and Garry Woodcock - Arrows A21 & Arrows A22
Brothers and armsNo, it was not a ‘double vision’ at the Hockenheim circuit last weekend during the opening weekend of the BOSS GP series. There really were two almost identical Arrows cars parked in the pit box. Both cars sprayed in the original black and orange colors of the 2000 season, when Pedro de la Rosa and Jos Verstappen were the men behind the steering wheel. Racing British brothers Michael and Garry Woodcock are the owners of the two cars nowadays.

They both gained valuable experience in touring cars and also raced with ex-BTCC Nissan Primeras and Honda Accords. However, like all the young drivers, their ambition was to make it into the Formula 1. “We initially considered buying a Benetton about three years ago, but were then told by someone that there was an Arrows for sale as well. We decided to go and have a look at the Arrows, mainly because we couldn’t get to the address of the Benetton because of all the snow in Great-Britain back then. We bought the Arrows right away and bought another one shortly after,” said Michael Woodcock.

“Every little boy dreams about driving in a Formula 1 car one day,” added his brother Garry, who raced against drivers such as David Coulthard and Kelvin Burt in 1989 in the British Formula Ford. “And I’m talking about a real Formula one car, not some car put together with parts from all kinds of different cars. It’s already special when you’re just able to drive in a Formula one car, but it really is something special to race with a car like that. I’d say it’s addictive. As soon as you step out of the car after practice, the first thing you want to do is get back behind the steering wheel. There are always things you want to do better or in a different way. You’re never done learning in a Formula one car.”
