Satisfying feeling

The 1989 Lola is not exactly the ‘youngest’ car around in the Masters Class. “Even though the T8900 is the oldest car around in the BOSS GP series of 2010, the car has shown that he has what it takes to compete with the other cars in the Masters Class, and that we can make it onto the podium. That’s a very satisfying feeling for everybody who has worked a lot of hours to achieve this kind of results”, reveals Alain DeBlandre.

Determination

Being the driver of the car, Alain is of course one of the persons who has worked on the project full of energy and determination. “I still remember my beginning with the T8900. I had a very difficult time during the first test drives. It did not take long to understand that all these horse powers can be very tricky, especially on wet or cold tracks. I had real doubts whether I had the capabilities to race with these old cars after the first tests. But I felt attached to the cars in a sentimental way. Then, we proved that determination can get you a long way.”

Friendships
Alain DeBlandre is thoroughly enjoying racing in the Big Open Single Seater GP these days. A weekend at the nice international circuits is so much more than just an opportunity to race for the Belgian driver. “Sharing a common passion is a great help to develop some interesting friendships and that’s what happens in the BOSS GP.”

Battling with a smile
“Of course, we’re battling it out on the track. That’s what racing is all about, right?”, continues Alain. “But there’s a completely different atmosphere off the asphalt. There’s a world out there of passionate hard working people, having fun together and sharing emotional moments. But the main goal is entertaining the spectators and the racing fans. They are also amongst the ones who actively support this newly created BOSS GP series.”
