Asking Alain DeBlandre whether a special Canadian friend has ‘a thing’ for speed, generates a beautiful response. “I stepped behind the wheel of a go-kart for the first time about ten years ago and she taught me a real driving lesson”, smiles the Belgian driver. “I told myself back then that I’d never allow that to happen again. So, we haven’t raced against each other ever since!”

Alain was born in Halle (close to Brussels) some 54 years ago and was already in his late forties when he experienced the thrill of racing cars for the first time. Next to his passion for his work, his young and dynamic daughter, cooking, gardening and studying, Alain found another passion in the car racing industry.

Anti-stress
“I started racing in single seaters about three years ago”, explains the Belgian racer. “Racing is a good way to learn to manage stress. At least, from the moment that the race has actually started. Additionally, it’s a huge thrill to discover and race new tracks. This can indeed be high adrenaline!”
