Saturday’s race was driven under sunny conditions – the organizers of the racing class couldn’t have wished for a better start of the season. Marijn van Kalmthout started from pole-position and immediately took the lead, followed by Ingo Gerstl and Johnny Laursen.

Klaas Zwart, who made a spin during qualification and was forced to start as the last man in line, already drove in fifth position after the first round and was part of the first three racing drivers only one round later. Marijn van Kalmthout comfortably drove his laps ahead of the rest of the field in the first half of the race. Klaas Zwart moved into second position in the fifth round after a battle with Ingo Gerstl. Van Kalmthout had a huge17 second lead over Zwart when they crossed the finish line. However, the Hoofddorp resident’s race came to an abrupt end in round nine. He explained what happened after his return to the paddock. “My car just stopped running in the Parabolica. I had already noticed that the battery was slowly dying in the laps before.”

Klaas Zwart took full advantage of Van Kalmthout’s misfortune: he grabbed the leading position and comfortably steered his car to victory. The battle for second spot was decided in the eleventh lap, when Wagner overtook Gerstl and moved onto second. The German and Austrian crossed the finish line in that order after 14 laps. That was enough for Gerstl to secure the win in the Masters Class. Henk de Boer finished fourth in the general classification and third in the ‘Open Class’.
