Damien Charveriat: "Like I'm racing against starfighters"

When his mother was 8,5 months pregnant, she visited the 1979 24 Hours of Le Mans. Apparently encouraged by the speed of the racing cars on show, Damien Charveriat was born only one week after the Porsche 935 K3 of Klaas Ludwig and Don and Bill Whittington won the illustrious race. It’s not much of a surprise that the Le Mans born Charveriat is active in the car racing industry these days. “I hope to race the 24 Hours one day.”

Damien Charveriat is one of the new drivers in the Big Open Single Seaters this season. He made his first appearance during the Masters of Formula 3-weekend at Circuit Park Zandvoort in June. The Frenchman was again present at the Flemish circuit of Zolder halfway July.

Happy to continue
If the happy expression on his face is anything to go by, Charveriat is really enjoying racing in the BOSS GP. “I’d be really happy to continue racing in the BOSS GP,” confirms the Frenchman. “I recently bought my own GP2 car and I want to race in that car in the near future. I’m currently driving around in a Dallara Nissan World Series with a 3.0 liter V6, but that car’s owned by the team.”

Challenges
Charveriat is the type of guy who likes challenges. Whether it’s about competing in triathlons, his work as a dealer of hedge funds or about his beloved car racing, he describes all these activities as challenges. “I was a motocross driver for three or four years before I made the switch to the car racing industry,” tells Charveriat. “I made the switch to racing in cars in 2005 and have since raced Formula Ford, sport cars, Formula Palmer Audi and Formula 3.”
