Marijn van Kalmthout ends Klaas Zwart dominance in Zolder

Reactions
Winner Marijn van Kalmthout: “I had an excellent start and I immediately noticed that my tactical plan worked out just fine. I wanted to create a big gap with Klaas Zwart as soon as possible. He had to start from eighth spot following his crash in the first race and that was a big advantage for me,” commented Van Kalmthout.

“When Zwart crashed again, I felt very relaxed and confident and drove away from Ingo Gerstl and Henk de Boer. It has been a very good weekend for me with pole position and two great wins. This really is top notch!”

Ingo Gerstl: “Marijn and Klaas are always full of adrenaline and that’s not without risks in an exciting battle. Klaas lost control of his car twice this weekend and that perfectly illustrates what I just said. I got the chance to take advantage of this and that’s exactly what I did by finishing in second position in both races. Everything went just perfect. I’m planning to make my GP2 even faster by decreasing the weight of the car and by making the car more aerodynamic. I want to be able to battle it out with the fast F1 boys.”

Henk de Boer, again number three: “There was a lot of time between the first and the second race. That’s always tricky for a driver, because it’s easy to lose your focus a bit. Nevertheless, I once again had a great time. I never stopped pushing, even though the cars in front of me are faster. You have to be alert all the time. That’s the only way to take advantage of the mistakes of the drivers in front of you.”

Masters
Karl-Heinz Becker is no stranger to the podium after a race. “This is my sixth consecutive win in the Masters Class. As long as you win, you can only be satisfied and happy. My car stuttered a bit, but never caused me serious problems. I’m already looking forward to the next races in Assen. I’m feeling perfectly at home there. It’s a circuit with extremely fast curves.”

Damien Charveriat recorded his second runner-up position in Zolder: “It went pretty good. Unfortunately, I needed too much time to get into the right groove. That gave Karl-Heinz the chance to drive away from me. I can only congratulate him though. He has done a great job. I’m quite satisfied with my own performances, too. I had a lot of fun this weekend.”

Portuguese driver Carlos Antunes Tavares one again finished in third position. “This was the best I could do, but I had a great time this weekend. Racing in the BOSS GP was once again a pleasant experience.”
