Marijn van Kalmthout ends Klaas Zwart dominance in Zolder

Race 1
Marijn van Kalmthout, who started from pole position, made a good start in the first race. He went through the first curve as the leader of the race with Klaas Zwart close behind him. Those who closely follow the BOSS GP know that Zwart has won all eight races so far, but that Marijn van Kalmthout has been his number one rival. The driver from Hoofddorp has had his fair share of bad luck though. He appeared to be on his way to victory more than once, but a loose tire, a broken generator and a flat tire all prevented him from crossing the finish line as the winner. Van Kalmthout is extremely fast though this weekend and had already beaten Zwart during the qualification.
Creating a gap with the rest
As expected, the duo didn’t waste any time to create a huge gap with the other seven contenders in the opening laps of the race. After two laps, Van Kalmthout drove close to 0,5 seconds ahead of Zwart. Number three Ingo Gerstl was already trailing by 9.8 seconds by that time.

Henk de Boer, reigning champion, is racing around at P4 in his beautiful Champcar, while Damien Charveriat and Karl-Heinz Becker were battling it out for the win in the Masters Class.

Carlos Antunes Tavares, Alain Deblandre and Greg Thornton were the remaining drivers. The latter, who drove around as invitational in his amazing Chevron B24 F5000 from 1973, was plagued by problems with his material though and his race came to an end after three laps.
