Marijn van Kalmthout ends Klaas Zwart dominance in Zolder

Reserve car DeBlandre
There was a small fire in Alain DeBlandre’s old John Jones Champcar during the free training. Fortunately, DeBlandre had his reserve car with him and he could participate in the race after all.

He drove in the Lola in which Scott Brayton ended in fifth position at the Indy 500 in 1989 and the Belgian driver drove to the eighth starting position.

Damien Charveriat was the fastest driver in the Masters Class. The Le Mans born Frenchman, driving in the BOSS GP-series for the second time this season, managed to beat sky high favorite Karl-Heinz Becker.

Unique Chevron present
In the Invitation Class, Greg Thornton showed up at the start in the beautiful Chevron B24 F5000. This is a unique car in which British driver Peter Gethin won the Race of Champions at Brands Hatch in 1973.

It was the only time that the F1 was beaten by a car from another racing class in a mixed field full of single seaters.
