Carlos Antunes Tavares is making sacrifices to race in the BOSS GP

The brand Nissan plays a big role in both the working life as well as in the personal life of Carlos Antunes Tavares. He’s responsible for sales, design, construction, finances, product planning and strategy in his role as Executive Vice President Nissan Americas Operations. In his personal life, the Portuguese uses his spare free time to race in the BOSS GP-series. Unsurprisingly, he drives in a beautiful Dallara Nissan Worldseries.

Stuck in Tokyo
Antunes Tavares travels around the world without complaining in order to be able to race in the BOSS GP. For the races at the Nürburgring, he boarded a plane from Tokyo to race at the German circuit before returning to Japan again. Unfortunately, his journey didn’t exactly start as Antunes Tavares was hoping for. “I got stuck in Tokyo on Friday and missed the qualification and the first race on Saturday due to my delay. All that was left for me were the 25 minutes from the second race on Sunday, but I still opted to travel to Germany for that race. I knew that my guests for this race were already at the Nürburgring, but that wasn’t the main reason for me. Nothing beats racing in the BOSS GP, so it was definitely worth a long journey.”

Friends
The aforementioned guests are an important reason for Antunes Tavares to race. “A close group of friends has been supporting me for several years now. They like to visit races and to keep an eye on everything that’s happening at the circuit. They are not only my fans, but also my sponsors. It makes me even happier that the second generation of this group, the children of my friends, also visits the circuits and they’re as enthusiastic as their parents.”
