Frits van Eerd: Who doesn't appreciate the little things, is not worthy of the Formula 1

Ambition
Van Eerd was looking very strong at Zandvoort. He was all smiles after finishing third in the qualification and ending in second position in the first race. When asked about his ambitions for 2010, a surprising answer comes from Gert Valkenburg. The owner of the Geva racing team was listening along during our conversation with Van Eerd. “Frits has set himself the goal of opening two hundred stores this year.” Van Eerd smiles before responding: “Gert takes care of everything for me during a racing weekend. He makes sure that I don’t have anything to worry about and can focus on the racing itself. That’s very pleasant.”

Live life with a laugh
Even though Van Eerd has been a regular in the Quote 500 for years, it are the little things in life that satisfy him. The chorus of his carnival song, that Van Eerd sang under the name of “Fritske” with the Gebroeders Ko in 2007, perfectly applies to Van Eerd: “We don’t even think about tomorrow, as today is the day. Walk away from your worries and live life with a laugh.” This smile was certainly to be seen on Van Eerd’s face after the first race in the BOSS GP-series in Zandvoort when he walked onto the podium following his second spot. The successful entrepreneur could make a personal slogan out of it: who doesn’t appreciate the little things in life, is not worthy of the Formula 1.
