Race 2
The big question ahead of the second race was how the weather would affect the race. It’s been raining all day, with heavy downpours and drizzle dominating the day. The drivers lack the experience to drive in rainy conditions with these cars. The sky in the Eifel looked threatening ahead of the start, but at least the rain had stopped falling down and it appeared to stay like that during the race. Wets are replaced by slicks on the cars, but not all the drivers got the chance to make further adjustments to their car.

Carlos Antunes Tavares returned to the field on Sunday. The Portuguese driver missed the first race due to a delayed flight from Tokyo. Antunes Tavares still leads the standings in the Masters Class and is hopeful to pick up a good result in the second race in order to control the damage.

All drivers passed the first curve without noteworthy problems. Klaas Zwart was once again leading the field, ahead of Henk de Boer. Marijn van Kalmthout, who started the race in seventh position, had already moved into third spot after the first curve and got past De Boer in the following curve. The leading duo once again leaves the other drivers behind them, but Zwart was too fast for Van Kalmthout this time around. The Ascari Benetton of the leader in the standings slowly extended the gap with his rival.
