28.000 spectators very enthusiastic about spectacular BOSS GP-races at the Nurburgring

Race 1
All drivers start the first race without any start-up problems. Klaas Zwart and Marijn van Kalmthout immediately create a gap with the other drivers. Henk de Boer drives in third position on a respectable distance, while Cor Euser lies in fourth spot in his G-Force Indycar.

However, Euser was unable to complete the race due to mechanical problems. “The team has attached shifters to the steering wheel and that’s a huge improvement. But it isn’t always working the way it should work yet due to software problems. I drove toward the pits once I noticed the problems with my gearbox. I hope that we can make some adjustments ahead of Sunday’s race.”

Things went wrong for Van Kalmthout in the ninth lap. He got a flat tire while driving at top speed and circled around his own axis three times, thus damaging the nose of his car. He was unable to continue his race as a result of the crash and missed out on a second spot that looked all but in the pocket. That gave Zwart the chance to relax and finish the race with a one-minute lead over number two Henk de Boer, thus securing his seventh consecutive win in the BOSS GP-series.

Reactions
Klaas Zwart was of course satisfied after his win. “Even though I find this a very difficult circuit to race at, especially with that new curve, the car is apparently adjusted perfectly for this track. The team has done a great job.”

Marijn van Kalmthout was impressed with his crash. “I got a flat tire while I was driving at a speed of 264 km/hr and circled around my axis several times. I was extremely lucky that I didn’t hit any other drivers or an obstacle at the side of the track. This could have ended pretty bad.”

Masters
German driver Karl-Heinz Becker dominates the Masters Class like Zwart does in the Open Class. He recorded his third consecutive victory in his Dallara Nissan World Series car. Belgian driver Alain DeBlandre finished in second position in his Lola Indycar, while Switzerland’s Jean-Claude Monbaron completed the podium in his Reynard F3000.
