Klaas Zwart managed to hold on to his perfect score at the Masters of F3 weekend in Zandvoort. The fast Dutchman steered his Ascari Benetton B197 F1 to victory number five and six of the season. Marijn van Kalmthout almost beat Zwart in the second race after a superb comeback, but he only just missed out on the win. German driver Karl-Heinz Becker was in great form in the Masters Class. He picked up ‘the double’ as well, just like Zwart.

After the popular Spa-Francorchamps circuit last time, the drivers were thoroughly enjoying the circuit in Zandvoort this time around. “Especially the Scheivlak demands your full attention,” smiled Klaas Zwart. “That’s just delightful.”

Qualification
Favorite Klaas Zwart was beaten by Marijn van Kalmthout in the qualification. Van Kalmthout drove an extremely fast lap of 1:26.458. “I drove laps of around 1:30 during the free training. However, my mechanics then made some adjustments and I immediately knew it was alright,” said Van Kalmthout. “I was bluffing a bit when I said that I could go four seconds faster in the qualification than during the free training, but I was able to live up to my own words. Initially, I was just hopeful to be close to Klaas. It was a huge surprise for me that I was even 0,7 seconds faster than him.”
